Squirrel Pests taking over
The two different types of squirrel found in Britain are the Red Squirrel and the Grey Squirrel. The Red Squirrel population has declined rapidly since the 1940s. In fact they are seldom seen in the south of England today.
The Grey Squirrel however has increased exponentially causing a number of issues for homeowners.
The squirrel is a member of the rodent family and, in common with other rodents, has teeth that grow continuously throughout its life. This means that they always have a strong set of teeth and if found to have accessed a loft space, the damage caused is quick and alarming.
Squirrels really can cause massive damage including fires while chewing through electrics. Take a look at the video we have of a squirrel in a loft.
Once a squirrel has taken up residence, it is important a prompt trapping process is introduced using specially designed kania traps. At Pure Pest Solutions we know squirrels can appear cute, however human safety is more important to us, hence the trapping. Make no mistake; a squirrel in your loft is dangerous and destructive.
Your pest controller will first assess the extent of the infestation by looking at various aspects such as droppings and gnawing damage. A number of traps with bait will be set and left.
The traps are usually quite fast acting and so your second visit would be within a matter of days to remove the squirrel and traps. Your pest controller will try to identify the access points and give advice to prevent future repetition of the issue.
